Sunrisers Hyderabad is a Hyderabad-based IPL franchise that entered the league in 2013 and captured their maiden title in 2016. Known for a balanced mix of explosive batting and disciplined bowling, the franchise has built a reputation for developing young Indian talent alongside overseas stars. The team plays its home matches at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium.

In IPL 2025 the side endured a mixed campaign that ultimately placed them outside the playoffs. Despite flashes of brilliance from their top order, inconsistent middle-order contributions and occasional bowling lapses prevented a late surge. Key performers showed promise but the campaign ended without a postseason berth.

Ahead of the 2026 mega auction, SRH retained Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen, Ishan Kishan, Pat Cummins, Harshal Patel and Abhishek Sharma while releasing Mohammed Shami, Adam Zampa, Rahul Chahar, Wiaan Mulder and Abhinav Manohar. Their retained core offers firepower at the top, middle-order stability and leadership with the ball. However, the loss of experienced pacers and wrist-spin options has created clear gaps in death bowling and variety in the spin attack.

With a reported purse of ₹75 crore, the franchise should prioritize proven overseas pacers such as Gerald Coetzee or Anrich Nortje to strengthen the seam attack, while targeting Indian spinners like Ravi Bishnoi or Rahul Chahar for variety. Adding a reliable middle-order batter such as Deepak Hooda could also provide depth and flexibility heading into the new season.
